Engineer: Process and product development

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Under the authority of the Director, the person is responsible for all R&D development activities related to polyurethane processing processes (ISO cyanates and polyols). The products covered are complementary to the company’s existing technologies and products. The incumbent of the position will have to provide the necessary support for the operations. It is in direct professional contact with customers, suppliers and employees of the company, in order to ensure full satisfaction of the needs of the customers and the company.

DESCRIPTION OF SKILLS

  • Responsible for the technological aspects of polyurethane processing processes (ISO cyanates and polyols), including tooling, method and production equipment.
  • Plan, supervise and document all the stages of the projects that are attracted to it.
  • Make bids, cost estimates and schedules.
  • Technically support the sales team.
  •  Support and work with customers to secure the development of their products with the development of technology.
  •  Meet deadlines, established budgets and ensure the profitability of projects.
  • Provide reports on the progress of projects and coordinate all meetings concerning them.
  • Develop technologies so that it can be transferable in production mode with competitive cycles and zero rejection rates, and support operations if needed.
  • Responsible for the proper functioning of the equipment of the test production line (production laboratory).
  •  Perform any other task requested by its immediate supervisor, in relation to its field of expertise and knowledge.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Academic: BAC. In mechanical engineering or chemical engineering other relevant discipline.
  •  Experiences: minimal experience: 5 developing new technology in a highly automated manufacturing sector. Experience in the polyurethane products industry. Experience with robotized industrial paint systems (an asset).
  •  Skills: good knowledge in mechanical design, Robotization, and mold design (an asset). Mastering the Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) as well as software: CATIA V5, MS Project.
  • Bilingual: French and English (spoken and written).
  • Skills: be able to manage multiple files at once, have excellent interpersonal skills (essential), good communication, high autonomy, high level of initiative, good stress management, leadership, have a sense of urgency, be oriented towards results.
